In anticipation of a busy Christmas shopping period, the Borough of Poole is bringing back its successful Park and Ride Service.
Bringing festive cheer to shoppers, families and traders, Borough of Poole has announced the return of free Park & Ride services for the Town Centre this Christmas. Opening up Poole’s high street, they aim to encourage more people to come and experience Poole’s varied selection of big name and independent retailers.
Morebus will run the popular service on each of the four Saturdays before Christmas – 1, 8, 15 and 22 December.
Buses will leave Creekmoor Park and Ride site every 15 minutes from 8am until 6pm. It’s just a short 10 minute trip to town and passengers are dropped within easy reach of the shops at the entrance to Falkland Square.
Morebus’ comfortable low floor buses are ideal for parents with buggies and wheelchair users. Don’t forget that kids love a bus ride and the views of Holes Bay from the top of the double decker are great!
When you’re all shopped out and ready to return home, buses leave the Falkland Square stop every 15 minutes from 8.15am until 6.15pm. There's plenty of space for all of those shopping bags too.
Shoppers in Poole will also benefit from free parking in the Town Centre on Thursdays from 29 November between 6 pm - 9 pm and Sundays from 2 December between 10 am - 6 pm. Unveiled in the lead up to the holidays, the free of charge provisions will make it easier for people to snap up the perfect gift while essential Townside improvement works are being carried out. It will also give Christmas shoppers an opportunity to explore retail favourites at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, Poole High Street and Poole Quay as they search for a truly unique present for family or friends.
Councillor Ian Potter, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Planning, Regeneration and Transportation, Borough of Poole, said: “Enhancing our wonderful season shopping experience, we are delighted to be offering the free Park & Ride for shoppers this year. With vital improvement works currently underway in the Townside area, we hope you’ll take advantage of our convenient service, help us reduce congestion and enjoy Poole’s fantastic array of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars this Christmas.”
John Grinnell, Centre Manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, said: “We’re pleased to be working alongside the Borough of Poole for the return of the free Park and Ride this festive season. Shoppers will benefit from the convenient schedule on offer and the service should help minimise any undue stress which the festive season can so often bring.”
